To check symptoms of ectopic pregnancy, human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG), a hormone produced during pregnancy, measured. The test is called a quantitative HCG. HCG levels rise rapidly in normal pregnancy and the value to double about every two days. If the HCG levels do not rise properly, suspected abnormal pregnancy. In the case of an ectopic pregnancy, women may have high HCG levels and no signs of pregnancy in the uterus.
